Monkspath Junior & Infant School Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to create enthusiastic and highly achieving learners. It enables high standards to be attained through being broad, rich and it not only meets national requirements but has the flexibility to be responsive to the interests and priorities of our community.
In Key Stage One we use a variety of reading and phonics resources to enable us to support our children. We use several different reading schemes across Key Stage One, including Oxford Reading Tree, Project-X, Big Cat and Bug Club. We also use the pupil intervention scheme ‘Rapid Writing’ to support the application of phonics. Parents across the school have access to Bug Club online where there are a range of books and reading activities to use at home. Phonics in Keys Stage 1 is taught following the guidelines of the ‘Letters and Sounds’ document.
