Eco School Council

Eco School Council

The Monkspath School Eco Team

At Monkspath School, the Eco-Schools programme is led by The Eco Committee –the school Head Teacher, a representative from the school Governors, teaching staff, teaching assistants, parents and the site manager.

The Eco Council comprises a pupil elected in each class in years 2-6 and a representative from the Eco Committee. Both of these teams meet every half term to discuss ways in which we can take forward the programme at our school.

Since starting the Eco- School programme in July 2008 we have achieved

  • Bronze Award in October 2008
  • Silver Award in February 2009
  • Green Flag July 2011
  • Energy Award Feb 2014

We have our own mascot called ‘Reco’ and are proud to be an ‘Eco School’201503061513

We are always looking for more help with our work, so if you would like to contribute either by attending meetings, joining the committee, helping with the children’s Eco Council or outdoor work we would we welcome you!

In November 2013 we were delighted to achieve our  ‘Renewal Green Flag award’   One of the Assessors’ that visited commented as follows:

“The school have a very strong community spirit and the pupils clearly enjoy working on the various committees to get things done.  They have a real ‘can do’ attitude and are very proud of their achievements and are very keen to show visitors what they done.  All of the pupils (as well as those on the committees) take an active part in the eco-activities and contribute. The committees change on a regular basis and there is no shortage of pupils who want to take part.  Well done and keep up the great work”.
